Abstract
:
Sixty Egyptian subjects were selected to participate in the study concerning the association of major histocompatibility class II (DR.) antigens with recurrent aphthous ulcerafion (RAW) during the active stage of the disease. The association of HLA-DR v/ith RAU; was investigated by usins lymphbeads HLA class II and lymphocyte microcytotoxicity technique. The subjects were divided into patients group (40 subjects) who had history of incidence of minor RAU and control group (20subjects); free from RAU; where the technical procedures were performed during the active stage of the disease. The findings showed a significant increase in HDLA-DR4 and decrease in DR2 in subjects with RAU as compared to control. On the other hand, there was a non-significant different in other HLA-DR alleles in patients with RAU as compared to controls. The present study concludeDd; that DR4 could be used as a diagnostic marker for RAU and may have a role in the pathogenesis and susceptibility for RAU. On the other hand, DR2 could be suggested to have a role in the resistance to RAU.
